Getting There

Gilbert’s prime location serves as a gateway to Arizona’s iconic desert landscapes, making it easy to access trails like this and experience the region’s natural beauty.

Driving Directions:

From Downtown Gilbert: Head east on US-60 towards Apache Junction.

Turn Left on Peralta Road: Continue on Peralta Road (Forest Road 77) for about 8 miles.

Arrive at the Trailhead: The Peralta Trailhead will be on your right. A parking lot is available, but it can fill up quickly, so arriving early is recommended.

Hike Details:

  • Length: 4 miles round trip
  • Elevation Gain: 1,568 feet
  • Difficulty: Moderate

Highlights: The trail winds through the saguaro-speckled Peralta Canyon, providing ample shade during the initial stretch. At 1.3 miles, the climb becomes more challenging, and around the 2.4-mile mark, hikers arrive at Fremont Saddle, greeted by the breathtaking sight of Weaver’s Needle. Extending the hike to Lone Pine adds half mile, offering rewarding vistas of Battleship Mountain and Bluff Spring Mountain.
