Experience Arizona Wine at Gilbert’s First Winery: Garage-East

Aug 29, 2019

Garage-East is the kind of winery that sells Rose Pops (not Rosé while you’re at Garage-East), and customers can buy canned wine to take with them to go. It’s the kind of place where you’ll leave knowing a little more about Arizona wine and have already made plans to make it back in to try their special Green Wine. They’re the first, and only winery in Gilbert, and they proudly serve only Arizona-made wines, which includes their own and select others.

Garage-East Breaks Down the Wine Pompous

If you’re looking to experience a different type of wine tasting, Garage-East is where you’ll find it. Their overall take on what a wine experience should be is refreshing. Their philosophy isn’t one found elsewhere; they want to breakdown the pompous that goes with drinking wine. If you’re a wine connoisseur, you’re in good company because they have a variety of wines to please your palette. If you’re the type of wine drinker who does best by confirming your preference for red or white, you’re in good hands at Garage-East as they want to share with you the many shades of each. Enjoy the wine and leave the pomp at the door.

Wine Pairs Well with Food

Speaking of leaving things at the door… that is not the case with outside food. Garage-East centers around being a great place to hang out, drink good wine, and be among friends. If that means creating a picnic and bringing in homecooked food, bring it in from one of the neighboring restaurants, or eating from their select menu – it’s all cool with them.

Canned Wine

At Garage-East, they have the belief that wine should be able to go wherever your beer can go. So, any wine of Garage-East’s can be canned or bottled right onsite for you to take home and enjoy later.

Garage-East Wines

Arizona wines and Arizona grapes. Garage-East sources grapes from vineyards in two of Arizona’s wine regions; Sonoita and Wilcox. Sonoita, which is known as Arizona’s oldest wine region, and Wilcox, which is known as the largest. With these vineyards, you’ll experience a range of different varieties such as Syrah, Tempranillo, and Sauvignon Blanc. If you head there during the summer months, you might even find Rosé ice pops for sale, which is the grown-up equivalent to Fla-Vor-Ice.

Arizona Wine Test Tubes

When you participate in wine tasting at Garage-East, you’ll experience six 1-ounce servings that come in a different type of flight than you’ve seen before; test tubes. Choose from 10 different wines. You can experience their 2015 Higley Rd. or 2016 Ray Rd., which are named after the cross streets where Garage-East resides. Another popular choice is their top-selling wine, a 2013 Tempranillo, before it’s gone! Also, it’s important to note that their wine tasting flights are available from 11 am – 5 pm daily. Arrive after 5 pm and enjoy a full pour of what suits your palate best.

Why are they called Garage-East?

This fun story, we’re going to let them continue to share with their guests. Many like to guess it has something to do with location, but we’ll let you ask and find out while experiencing their wine.

What other experiences does Garage-East offer?

Garage-East does offer both educational and community events. An event that is held throughout the year is their Winemaker Dinner Series. For this event, they team up with a local restaurant, such as Clever Koi, Thai Chili, or Fire and Foraged, to provide a chef-inspired dinner that’s paired with great wine. It’s a fun and exciting experience for guests to enjoy local food and wine. Garage-East also provides wine tasting classes where you can learn why wines taste so different from Spain, Oregon, and Arizona. Learn how to serve your wine and what’s the best way to store it.
