Outdoor Bird Walk Essentials

Before you head out on your bird-watching adventure, here are a few essential tips to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience:

  • Sun Protection: Arizona’s sun can be intense, so be sure to wear a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and apply sunscreen to protect your skin. Lightweight, long-sleeved clothing can also help shield you from the sun while keeping you cool.
  • Comfortable Walking Shoes: The terrain at the Gilbert Riparian Preserve varies, so sturdy, comfortable walking shoes are a must. Opt for shoes with good support and grip to navigate both paved paths and natural trails with ease.
  • Stay Hydrated: Bring plenty of water to stay hydrated, especially during warmer months. A reusable water bottle is a great choice to keep you refreshed throughout the tour.
  • Binoculars and Field Guides: For booked tours these are provided but bringing your own binoculars and field guides can enhance your bird-watching experience.
  • Camera: Don’t forget your camera to capture the beautiful scenery and the diverse bird species you’ll encounter

The Desert Rivers Audubon Society, based in Arizona, is dedicated to educating and inspiring the community to protect and preserve birds, wildlife, and their habitats.
