Walking around Gilbert you may get a since that the community is well connected. It’s palatable, whether out grabbing a deli sandwich or iced coffee, or experiencing some of the local culture and entertainment. While you may feel good about sipping on that craft beer from the local brewery, you don’t always get the full story on how your lunch is supporting a business that is in-turn giving back to the community. Knowing that the stories often go untold, we are highlighting just a few of the Gilbert businesses that practice their passion every day and have found ways to pay-it-forward.

Not Your Typical Deli

Kindness doesn’t even begin to explain the example that Not Your Typical Deli is setting for the community. Over half the staff of people who work at Not Your Typical Deli are on “the spectrum” (Autism Spectrum Disorder).  The service that the Not your typical deli is doing isn’t just for those that they employ, but for the community of Gilbert. They have become a keystone in the community for changing the narrative on and misconceptions that we have of those who are on the spectrum.  They provide a work environment that allows their employees to define their own potential and not conform to the stigmas that are created with out experiencing the talents that make them an important part of  our community.

Inspire Entertainment

Inspire Entertainment has a plan to establish a culture of kindness throughout the community. This plan all begins with the youth in our community and the compelling influence of performance arts.  Inspire Entertainment is a premiere performing arts program that takes music and arts to a higher level. Their biggest efforts of kindness in the community are providing scholarship funds to train in the arts for those who wouldn’t be able to train otherwise. They put on benefit concerts to help raise money for those scholarships. This is all done in association of their charity Inspire. Music. Service. Hope.
