Agritopia

Agritopia is a magnet for foodies, farmers and tourists interested in seeing first-hand how a desert residential community is addressing urban farming. Here, visitors will find a coffeehouse, a nationally recognized farm-to-table restaurant and an honor system farm stand.

Festivals & Events

Throughout the year, Gilbert is host to numerous festivals, youth and amateur sporting events, academic conferences, and sports tournaments. You’ll definitely want to check out Gilbert Days in November and the Gilbert Global Village Festival.

Gilbert Museum

With a vast collection of vintage artifacts, photographs, oral histories and archives, the Gilbert Museum is a great place to step back in time and discover life of Western United States settlers.

Higley Center for Performing Arts

The Higley Center for Performing Arts features two performance spaces – the concert hall which seats 1,235 and includes all of the technical amenities of a professional venue, and the 186-seat little theatre for smaller stage performances.

Parks & Aquatics Centers

An 8-Time Honoree for Playful City USA, Gilbert is home to 700 acres of designated open space for recreation and entertainment featuring four community pools and six major parks including Cosmo Dog Park – ranked 4th Best Dog Park in the United States.

SanTan Village

Experience a fresh and inviting Arizona shopping destination that opens its doors to warm sunshine and cool shade, all year long. Major retailers Best Buy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Dillard’s and Macy’s are top attractions at SanTan Village, alongside a terrific list of specialty stores like Apple, Barnes & Noble, Charming Charlie, Coach, Forever 21, Gymboree, lucy, Sephora, White House Black Market, and so many more great names.

Art Intersection

Art Intersection includes three galleries showing art from emerging and established artists, and a workplace for individuals to create their own art.

Gilbert Art Walk

Gilbert Art Walk is a bi-weekly art gathering that takes place on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. from October through March. Offering an array of artistic styles for exhibition and sale, this casual and eclectic event offers locals and tourists an opportunity to discover emerging and well-known artists alike.

Hale Theatre

The Hale Center Theatre has a legendary heritage as the longest continuously running, privately owned and operated theater company in America. This 350-seat theater in the round offers weekend matinee and evening shows.

Historical Photos

Known as the Hay Capital of the World until the late 1920s, Gilbert has a rich history dating back to 1902 when the Arizona Eastern Railway asked for donations of right of way in order to establish a rail line between Phoenix and Florence. A rail siding was established on property owned by William “Bobby” Gilbert. The siding, and the town that sprung up around it, eventually became known as Gilbert.

Riparian Preserve

The Riparian at Water Ranch features hiking and equestrian trails and provides an opportunity for wildlife and bird watching. Close to 250 species of birds have been sighted and many people come from different states and countries to see the beautiful and sometimes rare birds.

Big League Dreams

If you’ve ever dreamed of playing in a big league ballpark, Big League Dreams is the place for you. The fields are built as scaled-down replicas of famous ballparks, including Fenway Park, Yankee Stadium and Wrigley Field.

Gilbert Farmers Market

Located in Gilbert’s Heritage District, just west of the iconic water tower, the Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday. The market features local, chemical free, organic produce from many local farmers, farm fresh eggs, meat, cheese, bread, sweets, coffee and tea, sauces, seasonings and many other locally made artisan products.

Heritage District

Rich with buildings resembling the “wild-west”, the Heritage District is home to premier dining spots in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. The locally unique neighborhood restaurants are authentic, offer exceptional food and radiate charm.
